Overview

VryfiNow is a real-time charge-verification platform built for hospitality operators — cruise lines, hotels and resorts, country clubs — where a guest's on-site spending needs a faster confirm/dispute loop than a monthly statement. I built the full stack: a Next.js operator dashboard, a React Native/Expo member app, and the PostgreSQL-backed API connecting them.

Challenge

Chargebacks in hospitality are slow and expensive: a guest doesn't recognize a charge weeks later, disputes it with their card issuer, and the venue eats the cost and the paperwork. Operators needed a way to put verification in front of the guest before the charge settles — without asking them to install a new payment system or replace their existing point-of-sale.

Approach

  1. 01

Sit alongside the PMS, not replace it

Built VryfiNow as a layer that ingests charges from the existing property-management system rather than requiring a POS migration.

  2. 02

    One-tap confirmation on mobile

Built the Expo app around the fastest possible action: see a charge, confirm or flag it in one or two taps.

  3. 03

    Real-time operator visibility

Streamed transaction and dispute state into the Next.js dashboard so staff see a flag the moment it happens, not the next morning.

  4. 04

    Spending controls for shared accounts

Added per-member spending limits so a family or group account can't be overspent without a sign-off.

Development Highlights

  • One-tap charge confirmationGuests confirm a charge the moment it posts, closing the gap where disputes usually start.
  • Two-tap dispute flaggingA flagged charge routes straight to the operator dashboard with an SLA timer, no phone tag.
  • End-of-visit summariesAutomatic recap of everything charged during a stay, reducing surprise statements after checkout.
  • Role-based operator dashboardChargeback export and staff access scoped by role, built for teams, not just a single admin.

Verification pushed to the moment a charge happens — not the moment a guest disputes it weeks later.

Outcome

Modeled against operator chargeback and dispute-handling costs, VryfiNow's verification loop projects roughly $986k/year in savings for a mid-size property, deployable in about two weeks without replacing the existing PMS.
